Best woman ghazal singer award , The Times of India, September 5, 1986
BOMBAY, September 4: Vatsala Mehra, a prominent ghazal singer from the U.S., recently obtained an award for the best woman ghazal singer. It was presented by the Jaycees, (Chowpatty).
Vatsala has arrived in India after a musical show in the West Asian countries of Bahrain, Muscat and Dubai.
Washington DC-based Ghazal/Sufi singer Vatsala Mehra has released more than seventeen albums and has perfomed multiple time at the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap in Washington DC besides having performed around the globe to great acclaim and often referred to as Ghazal queen. She has been honored by the Indian government for her contributions to India's musical tradition.
